Tom Van Horn is a graduate of Hamline University, The University of Minnesota Law School and the National Institute of Trial Advocacy University of Colorado. Upon graduation from Law School Tom worked for a large law firm in the trial department. Tom was hired as a Criminal Prosecutor in the Dakota County Attorney's Office eventually serving as the head of the Criminal Division in the Dakota County Attorney's Office. Tom also served as a Special Metropolitan Prosecutor for the seven county metropolitan area. Tom is admitted to practice before the Courts of Minnesota, The United States District Court for the District of Minnesota, United States 8th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.
As a prosecutor Tom handled hundreds of major felony cases including armed robbery, rape, narcotic sales, arson and first degree murder. He has also presented numerous cases to Grand Juries. Tom was an instructor at Inver Hills Community College for over thirteen years teaching courses in Civil Lawsuits, Constitutional Law, Courtroom Evidence and Procedure, and Legal Research. He was also an adjunct instructor at William Mitchell College of Law for over twenty years teaching both Trial Advocacy and Advanced Trial Advocacy.
